Another update for everyone for JCI Makati's international news. JCI Mem. Ruel Fundales (JCI Makati's Ambassador for Europe) finally got the chance to hook up with JCI London. It was very timely as the chapter is hosting events this week and the chapter President and her business director gladly invited me to meet up with them.
So last May 8, as part of their international guest list and as representative of JCI Makati, JCI Mem. Ruel Fundales attended the JCI London sponsored European Capitals Meeting (ECM 2008) - an annual event wherein delgates from JCI chapters of key cities in Europe gather for a 2 day event to discuss global issues, unity projects in europe and host the other delegates. London is hosting it this year and invited guests included Brian Savannah ( 2008 World Vice President) and Richard Tong ( JCI Manchester President). Going forward, Sofie Sandell, JCI London President, will include me in their events. Last April 23 (Sunday), JCI Mem. Ruel Fundales (JCI Makati's Ambassador-Europe) represented JCI Makati in a Charity Football Match in Maidenhead on the invitation of Prince Frederick (Children of the World 2000 Founder). They agreed to finally meet in person in this event and discuss with him our beloved chapter and the various projects that JCI Makati do. Maidenhead is about 35 miles west of London, near Oxford, in the county of Berkshire. JCI Mem. Ruel was introduced to the Maidenhead Football Club directors. As you know, football here and in Europe in general is huge and famous footballers are quite prominent figures. Ruel saw some of their football personalities play in this charity match but didnt quite recognise them for obvious reasons. He also met other NGO representatives.
Prince Frederick discussed with JCI Mem. Ruel some details of their planned World Youth Forum in the Philippines. This will now take place in May 2009 as opposed to it being cancelled completely. He said he was in touch with Joey Leviste who will assist him in his funding requirements. I told him ( based on what Don has told me) that we can provide the legwork and other manpower to assist in organising this event, which by the way will take place in Bulacan. Ruel thinks that it will be a big help already. Bottomline is that it will NOT require funds from our end. Their project sounds ambitious as they plan to bring in youths from different countries funded by their respective governments. Prince Frederick is used to this type of large scale international projects. He is definitely keen to know us more and in fact came to know most people through our website.
Please see this link on BBC Bershire that was published recently. This is the event that JCI Mem. Ruel Fundales attended yesterday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/berkshire/content/articles/2008/03/04/prince_maidenhead_feature.shtml
